Former Rangers striker Marco Negri is backing Lazio to beat Celtic tomorrow night. The Hoops and the ‘Sky Blues’ face of in the crunch Europa League tie at Parkhead.
Celtic are sitting top of the group with Lazio and Cluj close behind them. The winner of the game tomorrow will go top, making it a nervy tie for both sides. Negri, however, believes his fellow countrymen have it in them to get the victory.
Marco Negri believes Lazio will beat Celtic
The ex-Rangers ace was top scorer for his club when the Hoops stopped 10-in-a-row.
A mysterious injury kept the in-form striker out of action after the new year that season.
Nevertheless, since his move away, Negri is keeping up to date with his old rivals Celtic. He believes that the atmosphere could play a part in the game but thinks Lazio have the superior qualities.
He told LaLazioSiaMonoi: “I’ll be supporting Lazio (laughs). The biancocelesti will find an incredible climate, Celtic Park will make itself felt.
“For me, Lazio is largely superior tactically and technically to the opponent.
“We must not however underestimate the atmosphere, the charge with which the hosts will enter.
“Celtic is a very aggressive team, always looking for physical contact to win the ball. With a move by Luis Alberto or Milinkovic he can change everything.”
Hoops fans need to back the club until the end
Celtic supporters need to remember to keep cheering on the team at Parkhead. Getting on the players’ backs if it isn’t going to plan isn’t going to change the game in any way.
There is a preconceived notion that Hoops fans aren’t patient enough when it comes to the big European ties.
Fans must realise that there are top class players littered through this Lazio team that can open Celtic up at any time.
However, the Hoops have enough players to limit that and any attacks or positive moments must be cheered on. Tomorrow will be a difficult night but it can also be a memorable one too.
