There are no Celtic supporters officially inside tonight’s match away to Ferencvaros, but that hasn’t stopped some taking in the game.
Despite no away tickets available to fans for the UEFA Europa League encounter, many have travelled abroad regardless to give a real Celtic flavour to Budapest.
Ahead of the match, Ange Postecoglou and the Bhoys were given a simply wonderful send-off outside the team hotel, leaving the players in no doubt they have fans’ backing despite daft ticketing rules. Twitter user @carolk23 posted some videos this evening, including the one below featuring the manager and captain Callum McGregor.
Other Twitter users such as @DarrenSweeney67 also posted pictures showing that there was a sizable crowd in attendance to cheer on the travelling team.
It seems that the starting eleven have been somewhat inspired by the backing, already scoring two excellent goals away from home heading into the interval.
Ange’s side hold a 2-1 lead at half-time and look good to secure a crucial result in Group G.
A big second half is needed, but Celtic have been impressive. There’s been real intent and aggression about our play, especially in the Ferencvaros half.
The away side found both goals from defensive actions initially, countering excellently and excitingly.
No doubt the fans in Budapest are having a cracking time, whether at the game or not. A win would spark real scenes of celebration in the city, somewhere!
