Celtic’s pursuit of Wilfried Nancy is reaching its conclusion.
But for as long as we await confirmation, that vacuum will be filled by reports – of which there have been many in recent days.
Martin O’Neill has won four of his five matches in interim charge of the Hoops, including an extra-time win against Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final.
But Nancy will seemingly be in the door by the time of the final against St Mirren in a few weeks. Celtic have reportedly been locked in discussions over compensation and backroom staff.
World-renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has now addressed the club’s pursuit of the Columbus Crew boss, and it seems to be a green light.
Fabrizio Romano breaks silence on Celtic’s pursuit of Wilfried Nancy
According to the Italian expert, Nancy is ‘on the verge’ of becoming the Celts’ new boss, with a deal almost agreed.
He also says that ‘final details’ are currently being sorted, after which his contract will be sealed.

The Columbus boss looks set for his first role in Europe, having achieved success at two clubs in MLS since becoming a manager there in 2021.
Romano doesn’t mention the backroom staff situation, which is yet to be cleared up.
Nancy’s assistant, Kwame Ampadu, is a central reason why the Hoops are interested – he worked with Celtic’s Head of Football Operations, Paul Tisdale.
Yoann Damet is also being pursued to come alongside him, but some reports have claimed that he is also under consideration for the permanent role in Columbus.
It is expected that Nancy’s staff will include an individual familiar with Celtic and Scottish football.
This could be Shaun Maloney, Mark Fotheringham, Stephen McManus or potentially someone else that Nancy is more familiar with.
