All the focus for the Celtic fans this week seems to be on what Brendan Rodgers does in the transfer window.

Which is strange because, normally, the headlines would be dominated by the build-up to the first Glasgow Derby of the season.

Celtic face Rangers at Parkhead on Sunday and the coverage has been minimal but the transfer news has been coming thick and fast as Rodgers looks to spend much of the £30m Celtic got from the sale of Matt O’Riley to Brighton.

And Fabrizio Romano reckons that Celtic are about to use some of the O’Riley cash to make a ‘really important’ signing this summer.

Alex Valle is a ‘really important’ signing for Celtic

Romano is the go-to guy to find out if your club is making big moves and now that Celtic are looking ready to make their fifth summer signing in Alex Valle, the transfer specialist says this could be a ‘really important’ one for Rodgers.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, “Then there is Alex Valle, who completed his move from Barcelona.

“I think this is a really interesting signing.

“He had several possibilities also from other clubs in Europe and in Spain, but he decided to join Celtic, and so that’s also a really important one.”

And last night on X, Romano confirmed that the youngster had passed his medical with his famous, ‘Here we go!’ quote:

Alex Valle’s career so far

The young left-back is yet to make a single first-team appearance for Barcelona however, Valle did spend a season out on loan at Levante in Spain’s second tier.

He made 29 appearances for the Spanish club where they finished 8th, just five points off of the promotion play-off places.

Prior to that, Valle also spent a short time in the Portuguese third tier with FC Andorra and made seven appearances.

Valle is highly rated by the Barcelona supporters and it seems that the Spain U19 international could be a decent signing by Celtic as back up for Greg Taylor.

However, with Taylor’s contract up at the end of the season, Brendan Rodgers could face a double headache in the left-back position unless he either extends the Scotland defender’s deal of finds two new additions in time for next season starting.
