As the silence from Celtic and Ange Postecoglou on his future continues, we’re left scanning media reports and updates from journalists in Scotland and beyond for the latest rumblings regarding a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Over the last week, many of these reports have been contradictory and confusing. It’s as if Spurs themselves aren’t sure of the direction they are going in – with different information hitting different sources.
Fabrizio Romano, the renowned transfer journalist, provided his own update this morning, stating that Postecoglou is due for his latest “round of talks” with Spurs early next week. Except, that doesn’t quite add up based on the information that is out there from the Celtic boss.

Postecoglou’s own words contradict Spurs media reports

Based on the previous two years, the Celtic manager has earned the right for the support to take him at his word, so whoever is telling Romano that Postecoglou has been talking with the London club appears to be misguided.
How can talks have been scheduled if the Celtic manager isn’t even communicating with his own inner circle on this? Yes, I may have a sense of naivety here – but at the very least it’s just the latest sign of there being zero clarity on this story.
Do Spurs want Ange? Do they want Luis Enrique? Are others in the frame? Is the Celtic boss about to be imminently appointed in London? All of these things and more have been reported by different outlets, but there is no consistent message coming through the noise other than the English Premier League side having Postecoglou on a wider list of options.
Frontrunners come and go on these things – there have been a few now with regard to the Spurs job. So if you have Postecoglou with one foot out the door, don’t be so hasty, there’s a lot of mileage left on this one. An exit is obviously very possible, but it’s far from a done deal.
