There has been a lot of talk over the weeks about Hearts challenging Celtic for the title.

Hearts are on top of the Scottish Premiership table after the Bhoys struggled in Celtic’s draw with Hibs at Parkhead yesterday afternoon.

The Tynecastle club hammered Falkirk 3-0 as Hearts continued their unbeaten start to the season to overtake Celtic.

And after watching Derek McInnes’ team dispatch Falkirk, Bairns boss John McGlynn has sent Brendan Rodgers a message over whether he thinks Hearts can challenge Celtic for the title.

John McGlynn tells Celtic there’s a title race on with Hearts

Brendan Rodgers has watched Celtic toil to a goalless draw on four occasions this season in the league and in Europe.

McGlynn was clearly gutted at watching his Falkirk team get battered by Hearts and it led him to send this message to Celtic about the title race.

McGlynn told Sky Sports Scotland, “The guys kept going, and we actually created one or two bits and pieces.

“Don had a really good strike and there’s other moments. Scott [Arfield] had a chance coming in and having a shot. The guys did everything good to try and get back in the game. But Hearts were too strong.”

And when asked if there is a genuine title challenge from Hearts, McGlynn said, “Yeah, based on what we’ve seen up to now, I would say so. I mean, we all look at all the games, Celtic and Rangers are not particularly flying right now.

“Hearts are. It’s a long way to go, but at the moment, it looks like there could be a title race.”

Hearts’ last fixture before the international break compared to Celtic

With one Scottish Premiership fixture left to go until the international break, Celtic and Hearts have one more league fixture to fulfil.

Celtic fans will be hoping to see Hibs put up the same defensive and time-wasting display they put on at Parkhead this weekend to see them take points off Hearts next week.
