Adam Idah scored a pivotal brace for Celtic against Falkirk last weekend as he answered the call in their hour of need.
The Irishman had Nicolas Kuhn to thank for his first after the German slid across a delightful ball from Anthony Ralston’s threaded pass for the striker to tap home from close range.
For the hosts’ third strike of the afternoon, Celtic’s right winger stole the ball before playing into Idah, who took a brilliant first-touch and outmuscled his marker before slamming home to send the home crowd delirious.
Helping the Bhoys set up a Premier Sports Cup semi-final tie against Aberdeen in November, the £9.5 million summer signing got some really valuable minutes under his belt and continued his scoring momentum generated earlier in the week against Slovan Bratislava.
Now, giving some unique first-hand insight on Idah, Falkirk captain Coll Donaldson has recounted what the experience of facing the Republic of Ireland international was like.
Coll Donaldson opens up on facing Celtic’s Adam Idah
Speaking as a guest on The Big Scottish Football Podcast, Donaldson complemented Idah’s clinical nature that helped Celtic see off Falkirk in the quarter-final tie.
Nevertheless, he does believe his side marshalled the Irishman well at times, which is probably a fair comment seeing as the former Norwich City man took until the 70th minute to get off the scoresheet.

Donaldson explained when asked what it was like facing Idah: “Decent, (he was) decent. Obviously, he’s a big lad; you see the way he takes his goals; once he gets his chance, he’s going to take them.
“I thought we did alright; we dealt with him alright, especially in the first half. I think we ran out of steam in the second.”
Most Celtic fans will freely admit that Falkirk held plenty of value in the game last Sunday. Quality told in the end, but John McGlynn’s side was brave in possession and caused real problems in the first half; they deserve major credit for that.
Brendan Rodgers entered the away dressing room to show his appreciation for their performance, which was a mark of how impressive they were at times on and off the ball.
However, Idah had a decisive say as the hosts sped away and got themselves to Hampden. For all the applause Falkirk are getting, Celtic also warrant plenty too for their character shown on the day.
