The Celtic AGM took place on Wednesday and fans were left cursing the same old story from the board.
It’s long been joked by fans that the board will use the ‘we tried’ excuse when it comes to failed transfer markets.
Peter Lawwell hit back at accusations that Celtic are frivolous with their money, as reported by the Evening Times.

Peter Lawwell has often come in for criticism from Celtic fans, sometimes unfairly.
He is the man who made over £1m on selling Craig Beattie to West Brom.
However, the summer transfer window is the best time to sign players. It’s usually the winter window that has teams lamenting a bad time to buy talent.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
There was no excuses for Celtic not to strengthen in the summer. The market is only as complicated as you let it become.

Brendan Rodgers didn’t try and pretend the failed summer transfer window didn’t rankle him, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
The Celtic fans were also not going to let the board get away with playing the ‘we tried’ card.
One Celtic fan took a lighthearted dig at Lawwell’s supposed frivolity
Perhaps this summer of disappointment will come as a wake up call to the Celtic board.

Reactive board
The Celtic board are mostly reactive rather than proactive when it comes to making decisions.
Back in 2016, Rangers defeated Celtic on penalties in the Scottish Cup semi final, a result some saw coming sadly.
Only then did Celtic get their act together and replace Ronny Deila with a world class manager in Brendan Rodgers.
They also backed him, letting him bring in players such as Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele.
After the Celtic AGM, fans can only hope that this summer will see the board spring into action again in January, to stop the unthinkable happening again.
