Fans send Brendan Rodgers and Celtic a message after hearing latest Jeffrey Schlupp rumour

Jeffrey Schlupp has enjoyed a short stay at Celtic after arriving on loan from Crystal Palace in January.

The former Ghanaian international brought some much-needed depth to the left full-back role and even offered an early challenge to Greg Taylor’s place in the Celtic first-team.

Initially, Schlupp had ousted Taylor when he first arrived at Celtic, however, it became apparent that the Scotland defender was more reliable after Rodgers reinstated the treble-winner to the Hoops starting line-up at the business end of the season.

Now that Schlupp will return to Palace until his contract expires, a rumour that has surfaced about his immediate future has led Celtic fans to send a message to Rodgers about the 32-year-old full-back.

Celtic hold ‘discussions’ about signing Jeffrey Schlupp

According to Sky Sports Celtic are talking to Schlupp about making his loan move to Parkhead permanent when his contract with Crystal Palace ends.

Anthony Joseph claims that the club have ‘been talking’ to Schlupp about staying beyond the summer and that a contract is still on the table for Greg Taylor.

If neither agrees to stay at Celtic, Joseph claims that Brendan Rodgers will then go into the market and look to buy a left-back in the summer.

Schlupp made 19 appearances for Celtic this season, winning the league title but it seems that this latest update has left fans sending a message to their club.

Celtic fans are divided over whether Jeffrey Schlupp deserves a Parkhead contract

Celtic fans seem to be divided on this update and have let the club know their feelings on whether or not Schlupp deserves a permanent contract at the Scottish champions.

@celtic_jaime simply said, “His best days are behind him.” as @CELTlC67 replied with, “Million percent better than Taylor.”

One Celtic fan took a shot at the board over the news:

@thebrodge67 was clear on his feelings and said, “Would rather just have Taylor.” and @bikey99 agrees with this reply, “Let’s knock this on the head right now.”

Celtic do have some work to do to strengthen and freshen up the squad ahead of the new season but is Jeffrey Schlupp really the signing that could do that?

Not according to many of these Celtic supporters.
