There is only so much time you are given as a Celtic player.
What doesn’t help the current crop coming in now is the fact that there are several negative clouds above Celtic because supporters aren’t happy with the board.
That makes matters worse for someone like Michel-Ange Balikwisha, who arrived during the 2025 summer transfer window, and he hasn’t exactly set the world alight.
Balikwisha needs to step up, as soon as possible, or else he will be sitting on the same steps as Hyunjun Yang, and that’s being in a situation where supporters are deflated when he is starting.

What has Michel-Ange Balikwisha been told at Celtic?
The main issue with Balikwisha is the lack of intent when he is on the ball, and how he doesn’t take his man on.
Richard Foster spoke about this on Go Radio, including how he would find it ‘really, really hard’ to believe, if the Belgian has been told by those at Celtic, not to take his opposite number on.
“I would be comfortable playing against Balikwisha now, because he never takes you on,” said Foster. “Never takes you on.
“Be in a good position, and physically, he doesn’t look like he wants to fight. He doesn’t want to get involved.
“There is no way he has been told not to take people on, I don’t think. I would find that really, really hard to believe.
“My biggest question, and you will probably know better than me, Charlie (Mulgrew), are there any Celtic kids coming through from the B team?
“Because sometimes, that lifts a team, when you see a kid coming through and you go, ‘I need to step here because I want him to have the best opportunity.’
“Or, if he is in your position, you go, ‘I’d better step up, otherwise, this kid is going to play ahead of me.'”
The signs were there on Balikwisha’s debut
The scene was set for Balikwisha. A debut at Ibrox against Rangers. It could have been a fairy tale start for the winger.
Instead, Celtic and Rangers produced one of the worst derby games of all time, and as Charlie Mulgrew touched upon, he instantly had reservations about the new man on the flanks.
“I have had question marks over Balikwisha since Ibrox,” admitted Mulgrew. “I know it was one game, and I tried my hardest to say, ‘I don’t want to judge him now.’
“I don’t see him where he’s starting.”
