Taking a welcome break from the football for just a minute, it’s great to report that Fergus McCann is scheduled in for a welcomed visit to Glasgow on the 31st of August.
The former Chairman, and saviour of the club, will be attending the opening performance of The Celtic Story which, as the club reports, is being held in support of the Celtic Foundation.
Profits from the show will go towards the Foundation which Fergus founded when he took ownership of the club in 1995. The Foundation supports people living in poverty in Glasgow, Scotland, Ireland, and the UK and helps initiatives in Africa and Asia. [Celtic FC Foundation]
The former Chairman was delighted to extend his support to the charity that he clearly still holds close to his heart.
McCann said [Celtic FC], “I really look forward to travelling to Glasgow for the Gala performance of The Celtic Story and I am sure like all fellow supporters in attendance we will enjoy an entertaining evening.
“In particular, I wanted to travel to Glasgow for the Gala performance as all profits from this evening will go directly to Celtic FC Foundation.
“When we established the Club’s charitable arm in 1995 we wanted to create something special which helped people in real need across all areas of society.
“The Foundation has gone from strength to strength over many years and the real, meaningful work which has been done since its formation has been life-changing for so many deserving people and so many causes.
“We hope that through this night we can continue to support the Foundation in making that positive difference to many more lives.”
The latest initiative to boost the Foundation follows up off the back of the recent Liverpool v Celtic Legends match which was held this summer at Anfield.

Many supporters of my age will remember the dark days of the 1990s when the team were struggling for success and the club was on its knees financially.
McCann saved the club from going out of business and was responsible for laying the foundations of the success that we currently enjoy at Celtic now and since the turn of the century.
He will always be remembered as a legend of the club and the fact that he is still involved in Celtic in some capacity is a testament to how committed he is to continue supporting the club in any way that he can.
