It doesn’t look like Filip Benkovic will be returning to Celtic this season.

The Croatian centre-back has posted a classy tribute to his former teammates and fans on Instagram. The 21-year-old posted a number of images of his time at the club along with a neat message:

“It was a huge honour and privilege to wear the Hoops for a season. The club will always be very special to me. Thank you to my teammates and to the fans for everything. Good luck for the future and historic ten-in-a-row.”

Benkovic is unlikely to make Celtic return

The post surely rules out the possibility of Benkovic returning to the club this season. The defender is likely to be given a chance under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City and you wouldn’t back against him forcing a way into the Premier League side’s first eleven.

Benkovic may have featured little in the final five months of last season but he’ll still be well remembered. He came into the first team at a difficult time and shored things up well alongside Dedryck Boyata.

He’s welcome back at Celtic Park anytime.
