Celtic fans are known worldwide for their loyalty to their team and the passion that they bring to the stadium. Especially on big European nights and Glasgow Derbies.

Who can forget the incredible scenes on our 125-year anniversary when we faced Barcelona? Or the amazing atmosphere created at last season’s Glasgow Derby where a 3-0 win took us to the top of the league?

Former Celtic defender Filip Benkovic was speaking about the best atmosphere he had ever experienced. The 26 year old said he’s never heard anything like what he’s experienced at Celtic Park on a Europa League night when RB Leipzig came to town.

Speaking to Football Scotland, Benkovic said, “That was the best [atmosphere] I experienced. 60,000 people, especially on a European night, it’s extra special. You get those goosebumps once you step on the pitch.

“Before the match when you are in the tunnel, it makes you so motivated. You think in your head, this is why you play football. You’ll Never Walk Alone before the game, it’s unbelievable.”

Celtic went on to beat the Bundesliga side after a 79th-minute Odsonne Edouard goal sealed a 2-1 win. Brendan Rodgers side qualified for the knockout phases after finishing second in the table behind RB Salzburg.

Benkovic left the club at the end of that season to go back to Leicester with Brendan Rodgers but his career in the English Premier League never took off.

He now plays with Eintracht Braunschweig in the German second tier who are hovering just above the relegation zone.
