Celtic’s exports to the Bundesliga this season are facing a tense and dramatic final day in Germany next week at both ends of the table.
Moritz Jenz and Josip Juranovic both left the Bhoys in January, signing for German clubs Schalke 04 and Union Berlin. They’ve been locked in a gauntlet of consequence-stricken competitive matches ever since, with everything coming to a head on the final weekend of the German top-flight next week.
Juranovic is locked in a battle for fourth place with Union, which would see them head into the UEFA Champions League next season. The Croatian has played in that tournament with Celtic, of course, and he’ll be eager to return with his new club.

A victory over Werder Bremen next Saturday should seal the deal, as long as Freiburg don’t rack up the goals away to Eintracht Frankfurt in their last match.
Jenz, meanwhile, returned from injury to feature in Schalke’s draw at home to Frankfurt earlier this afternoon. It wasn’t quite the win they were hoping for and the dropped points leave them in a precarious position.
They sit just two points ahead of Stuttgart, who hold a game in hand on Jenz’s side. If Stuttgart get a win against Mainz tomorrow then Schalke will be in the automatic relegation spot, knowing that only a victory away to RB Leipzig and results elsewhere will save them from the drop.
Either way, it’s all going down to the last day, shortly after the Bhoys wrap up their own league season in Scotland with a trophy day against Aberdeen.
The matches in Germany all kick off at 2:30 pm, so if you’re heading out to enjoy the festivities and be merry, these results could be worth looking for!
Good luck to both former Celts with their ambitions!
In other news, Kolo Toure returns to Celtic Park to take in Saturday match.
