First start since October, big return; Team news and Celtic Predicted XI vs Dundee United
Celtic travel to Dundee United tomorrow in the Scottish Premiership knowing only three points is good enough. Rangers have won again in the league today at home to United’s city rivals and there is now a seven-point gap at the top of the table.
Celtic’s visit to Tayside coincides with a few fresh injury problems for Ange Postecoglou. Jota, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh are all unlikely to be available for the Sunday match after being substituted off against Hearts.
Postecoglou hasn’t stated a timeframe for their return, but Celtic will have to make do without them at Tannadice, at least.
That means tomorrow’s team could have a different look to it than in recent weeks with players coming in and shifting positions to cover for everyone.
Joe Hart is a guarantee to feature in goal of course. Ahead of him, Josip Juranovic could well make a rare start at right-back in Ralston’s absence, with Adam Montgomery the most likely candidate for the left-back spot. It would be Montgomery’s first start in a Celtic shirt since the home win over Ferencvaros in October.
In central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is due to make a big return after missing out against Hearts with a personal issue. He should partner Carl Starfelt, who was immense on Thursday night.
The midfield three will likely be Callum McGregor, David Turnbull and Tom Rogic. However, there is a bit of doubt on Rogic in the sense he wasn’t supposed to play 90 minutes on Thursday and only did so because of forced substitutions elsewhere.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see James Forrest to start on the left flank, as he did at the start of the season, with Liel Abada on the right.
That leaves Kyogo Furuhashi to work his magic through the middle in a must-win match for the Bhoys.
Your full predicted XI is: Hart, Juranovic, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Montgomery, McGregor, Turnbull, Rogic, Abada, Forrest, Kyogo.
