Sadly, not everyone is going to make it at Celtic.

When players arrive at Celtic Park, they all dream of having the same impact as a Scott Brown or even a Henrik Larsson but for some, it doesn’t go to plan.

With the amount of faces who’ve walked through the gates, it’s hard to remember some of the ones who didn’t make it.

One of those has struggled to make an impact anywhere’s been, but a recent resurgence at Werder Bremen has got a number of people talking about him once again.

Oli Burke dreaming of European football after Werder Bremen brace

Oliver Burke was once Scotland’s most expensive player, however, all of the hype appeared to get the better of him.

Spells with Sheffield United, Millwall and Birmingham City have all followed since his brief stint at Parkhead in 2019, where he managed four goals from 14 games.

It now seems that he’s rediscovered his scoring touch after bagging three in his last two games, including a brace for Werder Bremen against Stuttgart after six consecutive starts.

It’s a rapid turn around in form and the winger, who hasn’t played for Scotland since 2019 has aspirations of European football and potentially lining up against the Hoops next season.

“I’m on cloud nine,” he told Deich Stube. “I achieved it because the club believed in me and I gave it my all. I give 110 percent every day, on and off the pitch. The hard work is really paying off.

“We have to believe it’s doable. We should all believe in it. That would be a huge success for the club. Why not?

“We still have some tough games, and we have to get points there. We have to keep going, keep pushing. Hopefully we can do it. I believe we can do it if we continue in this form and with this belief. It’s possible.”

Burke made Celtic history by becoming the 900th player to represent the club when he made his debut against Airdrieonians in a Scottish Cup tie back in 2019, but he won’t be remembered too fondly.

Joining in the January transfer window, shortly before Brendan Rodgers departed for Leicester City and was replaced by Neil Lennon, it was a tough period.

After bouncing around the clubs, Burke seems to have finally landed on his feet at Bremen and his numbers are a lot better.

More games and more goals and assists at the Bundesliga side show that he is turning the corner and maybe he can realise the potential that Celtic hoped he would show during his brief stay in Glasgow.
