Former Barcelona player Sergi Samper has shared an image of him reunited with Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi.

The goalscorer is currently in Japan, alongside Hoops team-mate Yuki Kobayashi, training with former side Vissel Kobe.

The footage of Furuhashi and Kobayashi in the Kobe side’s colours was a bit unexpected but it seems like the pair are just trying to stay fit ahead of the new season.

The move will also have given them a chance to reunite with their former team-mates — and it seems like Samper and Kyogo have built a strong relationship.

That was shown most when Furuhashi departed Japan for Scotland two years ago.

At the time, Vissel Kobe produced a fabulous documentary showing Kyogo’s final two days at the club, including his last match and a farewell event the following day.

At 28:35 in the video, Samper is seen with tears streaming down his face, while Andres Iniesta wishes Furuhashi all the best for the future.

The tears have turned to smiles now though with the ex-Barcelona man sharing a fresh image of him and his old mate.

Samper posted the training ground photo on his Instagram story alongside some Japanese characters.

Translated, they read: “Brothers of different nationalities.”

Kyogo then shared the photo himself, adding the caption “Friends forever” in English.

Samper came through Barcelona’s youth academy and made his first-team debut in a Champions League win over APOEL in 2014.

He has played his football in Japan since 2019, joining other former Barcelona players like Iniesta, Thomas Vermaelen and David Villa.

It seems like he loves Kyogo just as much as every Celtic fan.
