St. Johnstone have added another former Celtic player to their ranks with the immediate signing of Jamie McCart.
The 22-year-old, who made his one and only Hoops appearance under Brendan Rodgers in 2016, had agreed a pre-contract deal with the Perth outfit but he has now joined immediately to become Saints’ first signing of the month.

Since leaving Parkhead permanently in 2018, McCart has been at Inverness Caley Thistle while he also enjoyed loan spells at St. Mirren and Alloa prior to that.
The statement on St. Johnstone’s official website says McCart “goes straight into the squad” for the game in Perth this evening, meaning that his debut could come against the side who’s academy he was part of for years.

St. Johnstone have improved since their early season struggles
Tommy Wright also has former Celts Wallace Duffy and Tony Ralston on his books although the latter can’t play tonight as he is only in Perth on loan.
It will be intriguing to see how tonight’s clash pans out. Saints are certainly not the basket-case of a side that started the season.
They’ve only lost one of their past eight games in all competitions – winning four of those matches and keeping five clean sheets.

Of course, it’ll be a totally different task for them tonight. But we can’t afford to get too cocky about anything given how nip and tuck the title race has been all season.
Rangers have given us a huge edge by slipping at Tynecastle on Sunday. The last thing we want to do is give them back the ascendency.
We have to be completely ruthless in front of goal. Even if that means annoying a few of our former players.
