Much vilified former Celtic boss John Barnes is “being lined up” for another stint in management, according to a report.
The North Wales Chronicle reckon that the Englishman is in the running to become the new manager of Bangor City. The mid-table Cymru North side, who lost 7-0 at the weekend, are said to be interested in Barnes and would see the move as a real coup as they aim to return to the top-flight of Welsh football.

It wasn’t just Celtic where Barnes failed
Barnes hasn’t managed since 2009 when he ended an unsuccessful spell at Tranmere Rovers. He left the English side after a disastrous run of games that saw his side win just two in 11. He’s also managed the Jamaican national team and, of course, Celtic where he is perhaps seen as the worst manager in our history.
The 55-year-old was in charge for just eight months, presiding over the calamitous Scottish Cup defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle, before being replaced by Kenny Dalglish on a temporary basis.

You really do wonder what the thinking behind Bangor City looking at Barnes is. Yes, his name and stature in the game would be a coup for a club that size but his actual ability as a manager has long been in question. Barnes has failed in both of his club jobs and the fact he hasn’t been employed in a decade says quite a lot.
Celtic fans will just rest easy knowing that he’ll never enter the Celtic Park dugout again – on the home side at least.
