Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon is still seeking a return to management but has shared he has turned down multiple jobs to find something more suitable during the 2023/24 season.

Lennon went to Cyprus following his departure from the Bhoys in the ill-fated 2020/21 season and won the national cup competition with Omonia before guiding them to the group stages of the UEFA Europa League.

He was eventually dismissed but the treble-winning manager is intent on getting back into a club next season, rejecting the idea of taking up a full-time punditry gig.

He said [The Herald]: “I turned down a few offers last month because they just weren’t right for me. We’re now getting to the stage where pre-season training is about to begin for most clubs so it may be that I’ll need to wait until 2023/24 gets under way and someone loses their job.

“Punditry is something I’ve enjoyed doing and I’m grateful for the offers I’ve had but I’m not ready to go into that full-time. I still have the coaching bug and I’m hankering after the satisfaction of that hands-on involvement where there’s something at stake in every match.”

Despite how it ended in his second spell at Celtic, Lennon still has a lot to offer the right team in the right situation. Could a return to the English lower leagues be on the cards? Or does another opportunity abroad await?

Lennon has been linked with big jobs as Marseille and Olympiakos in recent months and it’d be quite a coup for him to land at a big club of that ilk. But it’s not impossible given his winning record and experience in European football.

Wherever he lands, I have doubt his next move will be interesting to watch from afar, just as his spell in Cyprus was.
