Former Celtic centre-back Erik Sviatchenko has hit back at a Danish reporter who labeled Glasgow as ugly.

Andreas Kraul, who works for DR Sporten, had a bit of a random pop at Glasgow on his Twitter account. It came across as a bit bizarre, as he claimed that Glasgow was one of Europe’s “three ugliest cities”.

Sviatchenko replied to him and stated that he”clearly hadn’t been around much”. The big Dane went on to say the following as the Mitdjylland defender continued his defence of Glasgow:

“Have you been to the West End? Finnieston area? Take a walk along the river? Have a cup of coffee at Eusebi’s? And walk through beautiful Kelvingrove Park on a sunny day?”

That reponse seemed to end the argument stone dead. Kraul had to back-track, and stated that he would follow big Erik’s advice and give an updated review. Here’s the tweets from their back-and-forth:

Celtic and Glasgow has never left Sviatchenko’s heart

This was refreshing to see from Sviatchenko. It seems a bit of a poor blast from the Danish reporter, who quite clearly hasn’t seen enough of Glasgow in what comes across as a very uneducated point of view.

You can always rely on big Erik to come out in our defence too. Whether it’s defending Glasgow or bigging up Celtic (Daily Record), you can tell he caught the bug when he was at the club.

As for Kraul, his opinion is sure to change if he decides to take Sviatchenko’s advice. With a bit of luck, he’s sent home furious after what he watches at Parkhead in any case.

As for Sviatchenko personally, it’s been a positive campaign since his side were knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers by Rangers. Midtjylland sit seven points clear of Copenhagen at the top of the Danish Superligaen, with Erik captaining them to the position.

Sviatchenko has netted four times for the Danish outfit, and really does look like winning another title this year. Hopefully, we can give him by boost by knocking the stuffing out of Copenhagen in the Europa League.
