Former Celtic centre-back Erik Sviatchenko has won Midtjylland’s Player of the Year award.
The Danish Superliga side signed him back last season and had an excellent campaign. The 27-year-old has his admirers in Glasgow wondering what could have been with him.
Has former manager Brendan Rodgers made an all mighty error in letting him go back to Denmark?
Erik Sviatchenko wins gong
The Danish international wins this season’s award 10 years after he scooped the Academy player award.

He’s had a trophy laden career so far with nine trophies to his name so far.
It’s clear Sviatchenko has something about him, which obviously drew Midtjylland’s interest back to him.
This season, he has played 33 games in all competitions, scored two and assisted three.
He also helped the club to win the Danish Cup on Saturday.

Despite competition from three other players, Erik the Dane collected his POTY award at the weekend.
With Sviatchenko winning the award, does it show Celtic were too quick to let him go?
Rodgers makes mistake with Erik Sviatchenko?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing only when it goes good for you.
Rodgers lets Sviatchenko go last summer and the Celts are hit with an injury laden season. The centre-half pairings were never settled but players did step up to the mark.
However, now with Dedryck Boyata and, at the moment, Filip Benkovic gone, options are light in this area.

The club are fortunate to have Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic for now, but if one gets injured then it’s a disaster.
Had Sviatchenko remained in Glasgow he would have got his chance at some point last season.
Neil Lennon would have loved to have him in the squad for the treble treble run in.
If he can tempt Sviatchenko back, then it would put him in good stead with a lot of the supporters.
He clearly still loves Celtic and the city and it wouldn’t be surprising if he wanted to return.
