Former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell is set to join the Manchester City coaching set-up, it has been reported this evening.
Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope understands that Caldwell is joining the English champions to become a ‘loan team coach’, which would appear to involve mentoring young City players who head out of the club on loan.
Caldwell was most recently an U23s coach at fellow English Premier League side Newcastle.

Caldwell did not stay at the Magpies beyond his short interim period, but this looks to be an exciting opportunity for the former Scotland international after his management career hit the buffers at Partick Thistle a couple of years ago.
Now 39, Caldwell once formed a productive partnership with Stephen McManus in the heart of the Celtic defence, winning two league titles, a Scottish League Cup and a Scottish Cup.
At times unfairly maligned by some supporters, he was also part of a squad that performed at a high level in Europe.
He made 151 appearances in total for the Bhoys before leaving in 2010 during the ill-fated Tony Mowbray campaign.
Joining the vast City Group could lead to a number of new coaching and football opportunities, not just in England but all around the world.
Our manager Ange Postecoglou will know all about that.
Good luck to Gary on his new role, which I hope lasts longer than his Newcastle stint!
