Former Celtic duo Efe Ambrose and Nadir Ciftci have been released by Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.
Off the back of a cup double in the 2021/22 season, the McDairmaid Park side were looking to build upon their success and added both Ambrose and Ciftci to their squad.
However, it was a disappointing season for Callum Davidson and his players, finishing 11th place in the relegation play-off spots.

The Saints did manage to come through the play-offs, though, defeating Inverness 6-2 on aggregate over two legs to secure another season in the Premiership.
With the disappointment of the last campaign, St Johnstone has kickstarted their clear out of players ahead of next season and the rebuilding job they will face in the summer.
Included in that list confirmed by St Johnstone this afternoon is the former Celtic duo of Efe Ambrose and Nadir Ciftci, having spent under a year as part of Davidson’s side.
Future of Efe Ambrose and Nadir Ciftci in Scotland unclear
Both players have enjoyed previous success in the Scottish Premiership at earlier stages in their careers. However, it hasn’t really worked out for either in their most recent moves to teams in this country.
Their future with the Saints seemed almost doomed right from the start, with Ambrose heading out on loan to Dunfermline in February and Ciftci only signing a six-month deal with the club.
Coming into the latter stages of their career, the next move could prove to be an important one for the two former Celtic players.
It seems unlikely at this point that many Scottish clubs will be looking to take a punt, given their last few spells at teams such as Livingston and Motherwell.
