It’s not been a great week for those of a Rangers persuasion, has it? Celtic’s fine work in last Sunday’s derby, won by a Kyogo Furuhashi strike, has sent the Ibrox lot into something of a meltdown.

Letters to the Scottish FA, pundits getting stick from callers on phone-ins and the realisation that they are going nowhere fast under Michael Beale has left them all under a cloud.

And last night, former Celtic hero Gary Hooper was amongst a group at the Scottish Masters who piled the misery on their Rangers counterparts.

He rolled back the years to score multiple goals at the tournament, including a superbly taken double in the derby fixture to win 3-2.

Dorus De Vries, Kelvin Wilson, Mark Wilson, Kris Commons, Joe Ledley, Simon Donnelly and Mark Burchill were all involved in the event alongside Hooper, who stole the show with his golden boot performance on the night.

Celtic also beat Hearts and drew with Hibernian in the group stage, before taking care of Hibs in the final by a 5-2 margin and lifting the trophy.

Broadcast live on BBC Scotland, the event drew a lot of social media commentary and many noted that it simply served as another reminder of Celtic dominance over Rangers across the last decade plus.

High-profile pundits such as Kris Boyd, Barry Ferguson and Kenny Miller were all involved in the Rangers team and not only faced a few jeers in the arena but also had some horror moments and misses shared all over the internet.

With almost a full week until we move on to new matches and talking points, it’s not going to get any easier for those left gutted by recent Celtic successes at all levels and all kinds of events.

In other news, Kenny Dalglish says Celtic got “one of the transfer bargains of the millennium” from £4m deal.
