Former Celtic hero piles pressure on Brendan Rodgers with Saturday goal

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is again facing severe questions surrounding his future at the Foxes after a goal from former Celtic star Ryan Christie earned Bournemouth a Saturday win.

Leicester had taken the lead against the Cherries after an early Patson Daka effort, but two quick second-half goals ensured a 2-1 comeback, with Christie’s proving the pivotal winner.

Christie actually played his best stuff under Rodgers at Celtic, who famously brought him in from the fringes of the Hoops squad and turned him into a consistent force for the Bhoys after a series of loans.

Leicester have only managed to earn themselves four points from nine matches this season and find themselves in the relegation zone.

Rumours about Rodgers have swirled for weeks, although a win against Nottingham Forest last week had earned him some reprieve.

No doubt the speculation will again mount. If he survives this week, then next Saturday’s match at home to Crystal Palace looks pivotal. If Leicester don’t win that one, there may be little time left for the former Celtic manager.

The goal was Christie’s first ever in the English Premier League, having scored three in the Championship last season Bournemouth’s way to promotion.

Christie’s side have now moved up into the top half of the table and don’t look like one of the teams who will be fighting against relegation this term.
