Former Celtic youngster Leo Mazis has left Italian side Triestina just weeks after joining them – according to tuttomercatoweb.com.

The Italian outlet – who are usually spot on with news from their own country – report that the Aussie teenager has had his contract terminated “for personal reasons”.

The 19-year-old – who never played a full match for us – is said to have left the Serie C side with the “warmest good luck” for the rest of his career.

The news is likely to surprise many Celtic fans given the social media post that Mazis sent out after moving to Italy.

Just three weeks ago he posted an image of himself with a Triestina shirt saying: “Firstly I would like to say thanks to everyone at Celtic for the support these last two years. It’s been a pleasure.

“But I am excited and ready for the next chapter at U.S. Triestina. Let’s get to work…”

Celtic never tweeted about Mazis departure

But it seems like that work hasn’t lasted for too long with Mazis now without a club again.

Something is clearly not quite right with the Aussie at present, given the quick nature of his departure from the Italian third division side.

He left Celtic in similarly strange circumstances, in the regard that the club didn’t tweet out any confirmation of his departure.

Given that they had posted a tweet featuring him just a week or so earlier, that seems a little strange.

Thankfully, the youngster is only 19 and has plenty of time to get his career back on track.

It will be interesting to see what move he makes next. He may be tempted to return home to Australia but he’s already formed a good understanding of European football.

We wish him all the best whatever happens.
