Former Celtic striker John Guidetti was subject to a failed bid from Feyenoord this summer, according to VoetballNL.
Jaap Stam wanted the Swedish international in to boost their hopes this season.
Feyenoord are needing a rebirth after finishing third last season. They have drawn Rangers in the Europa league groups which would have been a welcome Glasgow return for Guidetti.
Stam loses his former Celtic man John Guidetti in last day plea
According to VoetballNL reports the Manchester United legend hoped to bring the ex-City striker in.
A final day move for Guidetti was made but the offer was rebuffed by his club.
The 27-year-old is currently playing in La Liga with Deportivo Aleves who are on the up. The flip flop club finished mid table last season but took a few results off the top sides showing their promise.
However, Guidetti’s influence isn’t the main reasons for his club’s results. In 22 appearances, the Swede only managed two goals and one assist in the league. He is known for his goal scoring for many clubs in Europe but Spain is evading him.
Guidetti played for the Hoops on-loan in the 2014/15 season, notching 16 goals in 35 appearances.
A move back to the Netherlands where he was previously successful with Feyenoord would have been a good place to kick start his career.
No chance for a Hoops return for Guidetti
If fans were hoping that the striker would come back to play for The Bhoys then they shouldn’t hold their breath. Guidetti isn’t one to look fondly on his time in Glasgow.
In 2017 Guidetti honestly admitted that he didn’t want to sign a permanent deal following his loan. The ex-Celta Vigo forward believed he was better than Celtic and is a big game player.
However, Guidetti’s recent record is showing the club is dodging a bullet with that one.
He remains a cult hero for some fans but there will not be a comeback on the horizon.
