A fan night with Celtic cult hero Paolo Di Canio has been cancelled by organisers.

The famous striker was to attend the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow for a Q and A. Fans forked out £75 for briefs in the luxury hotel which was in place more months.

However, due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ the Italian won’t be coming to Scotland.

Some fans are going to be reeling with the latest news on the event.

The Italian won Scottish player of the year in the 1996/97 season.

A bitter taste was left in some fans’ mouths as he left the club for Sheffield Wednesday in a £4.2 million deal.

A potential money earner was on the cards for the European goal machine.

Di Canio was set to tell tales from his illustrious career as well as partake in a Q and A. Ticket sales are reportedly ‘good’ say the organisers but it isn’t enough to keep the event on. Fans forked out £75 but have been promised a refund by the event organisers.

Unfortunately a Tommy Burns Skin Cancer Trust was linked to the event and is set to miss out.

There is no news on whether a new event will take place involving the 51-year-old.

Neil Lennon’s backroom staff wasn’t selected by the Irishman when he was confirmed as permanent boss.

The Swede is still a friend to Lennon who may be seeking to bringing him back into the fold.

Perhaps a little more stability with the acquisition of Mjallby will be welcome for the fans.
