Former Celtic target Josh Maja is finally showing his worth to new side Bordeaux. The youngster is on four goals in his last two matches after bagging a hat-trick last night.
According to the Scottish Sun, Brendan Rodgers was interested in the striker when he was at Sunderland earlier this year. Current Hibs manager Jack Ross made a potential move difficult and Maja crossed the channel to Ligue 1.
Josh Maja proving Celtic wrong to reject move
The 20-year-old hasn’t had the easiest time in France since his Bordeaux move at the end of January.
Celtic were heavily linked but a move was unable to be brought to fruition behind the scenes. Ross reportedly wanted Maja back on loan if he was to go to Celtic to help with the failed promotion attempt.
Nevertheless, Maja was able to move to Bordeaux for an undisclosed fee.
Maja had a lack of game time in his own admission but has worked his way into Paulo Sousa’s team. Maja is on six goals in 15 matches in all competitions this season with one assist. He only managed one goal in seven during his half season when he joined.
His last four goals could be the starting point to show where Celtic went wrong in not pushing harder to sign him.
Hoops left ruing another missed signing
Another man the Hoops will be glad to see playing well through grittted teeth is Lys Mousset.
Striker has always been a hard position to get perfect for the Hoops recently and they could have done with Mousset. He’s on five goals in 13, scoring in his last two games, with three assists.
The 23-year-old is proving to be a steal for the Blades but at least the Celtic scouting team are on the ball.
Hopefully the next top attacking target doesn’t pass the club by and the manager gets the right backing from the board.
