Former Celtic target Scott McKenna could be heading through the Aberdeen exit door.

That is the opinion of his current manager Derek McIness. The Dons boss admitted that he doesn’t know of the Scotland international’s future.

The Hoops were in for him once upon a time, but is it the blue hoops of QPR who will get him instead?

The stand out stopper is coming on leaps and bounds to become an international footballer.

His club rate him at the £10 million mark and Celtic were not going to pay that.

Fair enough that McIness and co value their player highly but all things considered, it’s too much.

Nevertheless, it’s not putting off the likes of QPR for the Kirriemuir defender, but for now, McKenna will be on the plane for their next European qualifier.

McIness told the Scottish Sun: ” Will Scott be on the plane? Who knows, but as it stands if there is no other action he will be.”

However, could Celtic re-enter the race to sign their former target?

Reports are that Jozo Simunovic could be off to Lille and that will change things for The Bhoys.

If Simunovic goes then the dynamic changes as it only leaves Kristoffer Ajer as the other playing defender.

The Hoops are aware of McKenna’s qualities as the club have bid for him in the past. As said before, the price tag slapped on him will put off a lot of clubs.

Nevertheless, Simunovic could bring in a lot of cash and if push comes to shove Celtic may pay it.
