Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan is earning rave reviews in Miami from some fans
Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan is winning plaudits from some fans at Inter Miami already, despite playing just twice for his new outfit since leaving Scotland.
The MLS season has only just kicked off, with Morgan taking part from the start of both of Miami’s away defeats so far.
Despite the disappointing beginning to their season, Morgan’s new club are feeling good about their new signing, publishing an article on their official website this week talking up the winger’s contribution.
Noting his productive attacking output, the article also highlights Morgan’s work rate, defensive prowess and ability to play on either flank.
Morgan provided the club’s first-ever assist in MLS during the weekend’s encounter away to DC United, finding Mexican international Rodolfo Pizarro with a low cross.
The Scotland international left Celtic during the January transfer window after failing to win a regular starting spot in either Brendan Rodgers’ or Neil Lennon’s team.
Although clearly not quite at the standard required at Celtic, it’s pleasing to hear he is settling well into his new life across the Atlantic.
Playing for David Beckham’s team in their first MLS campaign is a high profile gig in 2020 and if he can impress it will set up a future career very well.
Further confirming his bright start in America, these Inter Miami fans have taken to Twitter this week to share their thoughts on his initial appearances…

I was at the game. He had a great first half, really dangerous down the right. Scored a goal second half that was ruled out because of an earlier handball. DC changed their left back at half time who coped a bit better with Lewis but he had a good game overall. Good luck Lewis.

I’ve been impressed with his play so far and he’s pretty underrated on this club too. I’d say besides Pizarro, Figal and Morgan has been great pick-ups so far!

Enjoyed his play so far. Classic winger. Primarily left-footed, but does well taking on players to his weaker side. Puts in some dangerous crosses with his right foot, too.

He was one of the bright spots last match. Pizarro also seemed much more comfortable as he was dribbling circles around DC.
