Former Hoops man Peter Grant believes Kyogo Furuhashi is frustrated with Celtic teammate

Celtic have struggled to find a cutting edge in attack over the course of this season under Brendan Rodgers’ stewardship.

Last weekend, their profligacy in front of goal was amplified against Aberdeen after Luis Palma and Paulo Bernardo spurned golden opportunities to put their side ahead in the first 45.

In the second half, their missed chances were punished as Bojan Miovski opened the scoring for the hosts with a curled finish.

Of course, Nicolas Kuhn eventually levelled with a deflected strike to salvage a point for the Hoops, though their inability to bury chances came back to bite them, not for the first time this season.

Hibernian await at Easter Road tonight in a crucial fixture regarding the context of the Scottish Premiership title race.

Rodgers will hope his side can find a clinical mind frame during proceedings. However, several players haven’t been able to direct goalwards when it has mattered this season.

Peter Grant comments on Celtic man Kyogo Furuhashi’s service

Kyogo Furuhashi has still put up decent numbers at the time of writing without being at his prolific best this term, registering 11 goals and three assists in 32 appearances [Transfermarkt].

Nevertheless, Peter Grant believes that his teammate Palma isn’t providing the Japan international with enough openings from the wide areas.

The 58-year-old stated [Go Radio]: “Against Motherwell, Palma was brilliant at doing what? Cross, inside, delivery, ball in the net. Right at the death, what does he do again?

“Inside, cross Matt O’Riley puts the ball in the back of the net. Now he is passing square.

“So that tells me there is a problem. If I were Kyogo, I would go over and wring his neck because of the amount of chances he’s got to put the ball in the box.”

Undoubtedly, the Bhoys haven’t been at their free-flowing best for the last couple of weeks and need to do more to penetrate opposition defences efficiently.

Nick Montgomery’s Hibernian will be another stiff test tonight, and creative intuition will be required to break the lines at Easter Road.

If Celtic can do that, their chances of bringing three points back down the motorway will significantly increase if they can convert their subsequent opportunities.
