A former teammate of Leigh Griffiths has backed the striker to make a sparkling return to life at Celtic.
Griffiths hasn’t featured for the Hoops since a victory over Kilmarnock in December. He’s faced months on the sideline to deal with reported mental health issues but is set to make a comeback at the start of next season.

His former Hibernian teammate Ben Williams has backed him to recapture his best form in a Celtic shirt.
The Bolton keeper told the Daily Record: “I’d definitely back him to perform to that level again under a manager who knows him well.
“Alongside another good striker in Edouard it would save Celtic millions in finding a potential replacement of his ability.
“He is a natural striker, on form one of the best I’ve played with. He loves scoring and has that clinical, selfish ability strikers need.”

Like a new signing
Williams does make a credible point about the club saving millions. Griffiths has proven himself to be a goalscorer at almost every club he’s played at during his career. He’s netted over 100 goals in five seasons for Celtic and that’s not bad when you consider his personal troubles and the fact he’s had to fight with Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard for three seasons.

If Griffiths plays a big part next season then he’s almost certain to bag us 15 goals. That’s a fair percentage of our overall total and may help to make up for any lost goals if Scott Sinclair is to move on.
Odsonne Edouard must start the season as our number one option given his recent exploits. However, Griffiths’ return will undoubtedly give Neil Lennon some food for thought.
