Celtic star Ryan Christie’s former Inverness teammate Matthew Cooper has disclosed that he remains a firm fan of the player, as reported by the Elgin City website.
Both players broke through at Inverness at the same time, and Cooper, in a player q and a, is not surprised that Christie has done so well for the Hoops.
Indeed, he goes as far as to say that Christie is the best player he has ever played with.
“Proved it now week in week out”
“Best player I’ve played with is Ryan Christie, from a young age he was always the standout and has proved it now week in week out playing at the highest level” he said, as quoted by the official Elgin City website.
Christie was always a good player – that is how he ended up at Celtic in the first place. It has to be said though, at one stage it didn’t look as if he would make the breakthrough with the Hoops, after finding it hard to gain a first-team spot.
Taken game to a new level
He knuckled down though, and won a place in the side. Since then, he seems to have taken his game to a new level in the last 12 months.
That is shown in the number of goals he scored for the Hoops this season before the lockdown began. He scored 19 goals, which is a brilliant return for a midfielder, even one that likes to get forward and attack.
Hopefully when Scottish football returns Christie can maintain that form. If he can, he will be a massive player for the Hoops going forward, as the team looks to complete nine in a row or begins the campaign to win 10 in a row.
