Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has made a bizarre claim about the newly crowned Scottish player of the year James Forrest.
He has claimed that the winger might not be ‘big enough’ to succeed in England, should he elect to move down there.
“That still matters”

“I don’t know if he’s big enough to go down to England. That still matters down there” McAvennie said, as reported by the Daily Record.
He then claimed that the player will not want to move to England anyway.
“He could become one of the greats at Celtic. Why would you give all this up to fight relegation and battle at the bottom of the table?”

Want to stay for 10 in a row
For a start, McAvennie is correct about Forrest not wanting to move. The player has been at Celtic for the last eight title victories. He will want to be at the club whilst the Hoops go for 10 in a row.

However, McAvennie is wrong to suggest that the player is not ‘big enough’ to succeed in England.
Such is Forrest’s style of play, he could do well in England. His ability to take on players and score goals would get plenty of teams interested in him.
Hopefully this is all hypothetical though, and Forrest does not leave the Hoops anytime soon. He seems happy enough at the club, and long may that continue.
