Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster has been in excellent form since returning to Celtic on loan from Southampton this season. Indeed, it could be argued that he is playing as well for the Hoops as he did in his first spell with the club.

Forster seems to be enjoying being back at the club, which could well be one of the reasons for his good form. He also enjoys working with one of Celtic’s senior figures, goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods.

“Stevie understands players. His sessions are great but I think he understands the mental side of the game too” Forster said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

“He has a fantastic record. He just knows how to get the best out of the players he’s working with — and he’s definitely up there with the best I have worked with” Forster continued, as he lauded the impact Woods has had on his game.

Woods has been at Celtic for many years, and it shows how valuable he has been to Celtic when he has been kept on at the club by a succession of managers. That is testament how well a job that Woods has done over the years at Celtic Park.

Perhaps having the chance to work once more with Woods was one of the reasons that Forster agreed to return to Celtic Park. If that is the case, then credit has to be given to Woods.

It remains to be seen if Forster will return to Celtic after his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Even if he is only at Celtic until the end of the season, Woods will still have time to work with the Hoops goalkeeper to ensure that his game continues to improve. That bodes well for both Celtic and the player, as the Hoops aim to make it nine in a row.
