Fraser Forster’s career has had plenty of ups and downs, but the England international has claimed that he loves life at Parkhead.
Forster had been in exile with Southampton during the 2018/19 campaign. The towering shot-stopper played only one match all season for the Saints first-team (Transfermarkt). For a goalkeeper of his quality, that felt like an injustice to see him so far out of the picture down south.
However, a return to Celtic Park has been just the boost he needed. Forster has immediately come in and restored himself as the Celtic number one, and is back to the form that helped initially win him that £10million move to Southampton in the first place (The Guardian).

As for the player himself, he evidently couldn’t be happier either. Speaking in the Daily Record, Forster reaffirmed his love for life at Parkhead.
“I don’t know what it is about the place. There are a lot of good people at the club and I work with a lot of good people.
“I just love being here, I just enjoy it. I’m up here, I’m a Celtic player for the year and that’s fine. I just want to do as well for this club as I can. I’m loving being back and playing. I want to make the most of my time.
“I had a tough year last year and the main thing was to get back to enjoying football and enjoying life again.”
Forster’s stats don’t tell the whole story
It’s not surprising to hear big Fraser talk up his enjoyment at the club. After all, it’s not the first time he’s expressed that level of appreciation for life at Celtic (CelticFC.net).

As for his record, it’s fair to say is stats don’t do him an injustice. Out of his 15 Celtic appearances this season, he’s managed to keep seven clean sheets. That’s less than half of the games he’s played here (Transfermarkt).
However, what these stats don’t take into account is the amount of stunning stops he’s made. In Europe in particular, he’s been alert to keep out efforts from the likes of Danilo Cataldi, Ciro Immobile, Serdej Milinkovic-Savic, and M’Baye Niang to name a few. If not for Forster, we would certainly have struggled in certain moments.
You won’t find many supporters who would argue about his claim for the number one jersey. He’s by some distance the best goalkeeper at the club, and continues to wow on a weekly-basis.

Forster and Celtic just seems to fit like a glove. It’s no surprise that he’s found his happiness in football again after a year plying his trade as a Southampton outcast.
Now, his focus should be on building up that clean sheet record. It certainly deserves to have a more shinier look to it.
