The Scottish Cup draw saw Celtic being pitted against Kilmarnock in the fourth round draw that was completed last week.
Dominant in the league and with Celtic facing Rangers in the League Cup final, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers now has a Scottish Cup Celtic Park tie against Kilmarnock to look forward to in his bid to try and win another treble this season.
But it was Rangers’ draw with Fraserburgh that also grabbed the headlines as the Highland League club earned a lucrative Scottish Cup draw against the Ibrox side.
And it also led to Fraserburgh winger, Aidan Sopel, to make a Celtic admission after drawing the Bhoys’ rivals in the cup competition.
Fraserburgh’s Aidan Sopel would ‘love’ to have played Celtic in Scottish Cup
Sopel told The Sunday Post [print edition page 73], “It’s a dream draw for us. It’s funny because I’m quite friendly with Darryl and he was part of the Buckie Thistle side that went to Celtic Park last season.
“I was delighted for him to get that chance but thought to myself I’d love to do that as well.
“I know how excited he was in the build-up and how much he loved the overall experience.
“Now we’ve got this fantastic opportunity to go to Glasgow and play against one of the big two. I’m intent on making the most of it.”
Fraserburgh’s Aidan Sopel admits he ‘grew up a Celtic fan’ after Scottish Cup Rangers draw
Playing against Rangers at Ibrox would motivate any player to try and create a cup shock and make their name in the game.
But for Sopel, he has a double incentive to beat the Glasgow club after this Celtic reveal.
Sopel admits, “I grew up a Celtic fan. I would have loved to have been drawn with them, but Rangers are still a massive club with a huge tradition.

“It will be the biggest game of my career so far. And the same will go for most of the other lads who’ve been used to just playing in the Highland League.”
Brendan Rodgers will look to defend the trophy he won at Hampden last season after Celtic beat Rangers in the final after a late goal by Adam Idah.
If Sopel can do what looks like the impossible and helps to defeat Rangers in Glasgow, then he would be hailed a hero not just by the Fraserburgh support but by the Celtic fans as well.
With the ties being played on the weekend of the 18th of January Celtic have other matters to deal with in the Champions League, Scottish Premiership and the League Cup this month.
