Celtic are prepping a January move for Stade Brest’s Dutch international goalkeeper Marco Bizot, according to French outlet Homme du Match.
Indeed, the French website believes that the Hoops are looking to take the former AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper in a temporary deal this winter.
The report states that this isn’t something that the Ligue 1 club would be interested in. In order to make a move viable, Brest want Celtic to be open to a compulsory buyout option in the summer.

Bizot only signed for Brest back in the summer of 2021. He’s been a constant in the starting XI since then too, securing all 13 league appearances of the season [Transfermarkt].
The player is contracted to Brest until the summer of 2024. However, considering he’s their first-choice goalkeeper, it’s difficult to see why they would be open to letting him go.
Bizot made his Netherlands debut back in November 2020, and was taken by former Dutch boss Frank de Boer to Euro 2020.
Celtic move for Marco Bizot feels unrealistic for now
Celtic certainly need another goalkeeper in January. Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain simply aren’t good enough in the event of Joe Hart picking up a nasty injury. So there’s no reason to believe we wouldn’t be taking a look at Bizot.
However, it’s difficult to see how this would even be considered by Brest. Not unless they were getting a meaty valuation for their star-man.
He’s a constant in their first-team. He’s playing in Ligue 1 on a weekly basis and is a key part of Brest’s plans moving forward. Why would they as a club suddenly be open to loaning him out? It doesn’t feel as though it makes any sort of sense on their part.

Even if Celtic did agree to put in a compulsory clause that meant we had to buy the player. What would that truly give Brest? They would still be losing their number 1 for half a league campaign. Considering they’re in a relegation battle, that would be one heck of a risk.
Bizot himself likely won’t want to up and leave anytime soon either. Not when he’s being exposed to one of the best leagues in Europe and still settling into his new club.
So it’ll be interesting to see if anyone comes of this. But the truth is all the indications would point towards Brest keeping their man.
