Celtic supporters are gearing up for the return of Ange Postecoglou’s side, who have travelled to Portugal for mid-season preparations.

The Bhoys’ competitive campaign has been ground to a halt due to the World Cup taking place in Qatar across November and December.

Postecoglou and his squad were last in action on the 20th of November after concluding their short trip to Sydney with a 0-0 draw against Everton.

When the Sydney visit came to a close, the Celtic squad were handed some time off to rest and recuperate ahead of the second half of the season.

Late last week, players began returning to training at Lenoxtown before they head out to Portugal for a warm-weather camp.

Whilst over in Portugal, the Hoops will be involved in a friendly, marking a long-awaited return for supporters who have missed seeing Celtic in action.

Ange Postecoglou’s side will take on Ligue 1 team Stade Rennes on Saturday 10th of December, with the kick-off time being confirmed for 10 AM (GMT) by the French side earlier today.

As of yet, there has been no confirmation of broadcast details for the behind-closed-doors friendly. But you would imagine the club would be hopeful of providing fans with a way to watch the matchup.

The next week in Portugal could prove to be an important period for Ange Postecoglou as he gears his side up for competitive fixtures, which kick-start on the 17th of December.

Watching some of the best players in the world and also several current members of our squad in action at the World Cup will have provided fans with some festive football.

However, as Celtic supporters, there is nothing like watching the Hoops in action. Thankfully, we now won’t have to wait too long for the Bhoys to return.

It may only be a friendly, but I am sure Postecoglou will be keen to see his players reach the levels of a competitive outing as they get back up to speed.

Rennes should provide a good test for the squad as we prepare to go up against a team looking to advance to the latter stages of the Europa League.

After a period of two weeks without a game, which will have felt like even longer for the vast majority, we are now only five days away from seeing the green and white Hoops back in friendly action.
