`Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has provided a fresh injury update ahead of today’s game against Dundee United at Parkhead.

The Hoops still have plenty of names on the injury list at the moment. The likes of Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Christopher Jullien, and Greg Taylor are all crocked. For some, it’s still a short while before they’re back.

Celtic fans are desperate to get through this busy schedule with as little scars as possible. There’s an excitement over how this squad of players will perform when everyone is fit. But at the moment, we’re still a bit away from that.

And Postecoglou doesn’t believe supporters should expect any players to return for this afternoon’s clash at Celtic Park.

Touching on the injury situation briefly, he said the following as quoted by the Daily Record: “We are not really sure (whether McGregor will be fit for Leverkusen), we don’t expect to make any additions for the United game.

“We will have a look at the match on Thursday later. Our first task is get through Sunday, then we can look at it from there.”

Celtic should have more than enough to see off Dundee United

It’s disappointing not to have a player or two back for the United clash. Then again, Celtic fans are getting used to being let down by the team news on a weekly basis.

You can’t deny Postecoglou is continuously having to put out fires. More than he should at this stage of his Celtic career.

We all acknowledged the job on his hands was a monumental one when he arrived. But even that didn’t take into account an injury crisis at the beginning of the camapaign.

The truth is that it’s robbed the Celtic manager of building any sort of momentum. When it comes to our inconsistency levels, you can’t say the injury problems haven’t been partly to blame.

Granted, Celtic should have more than enough to see off United today. We still have the XI as well as the options on the bench to see them off. Even if it isn’t the high-quality display we’ve come to accept from the Hoops at home under Ange.

But hopefully his firefighting days are coming to an end soon. Unfortunately, however, there’s likely to be no injury returnees for the United game.
