Fresh image suggests Oliver Burke is fit for Celtic this Saturday

Oliver Burke looks to be over the knock he picked up against Hearts last weekend.

Fresh images have come out on Celtic’s Twitter account showing the squad training for the Scottish Cup final this Sunday. In one particular shot, Burke is clearly seen doing his running drills with the rest of the team.

The Hoops are gearing up for the most important match of Celtic’s treble treble run. Victory over Hearts and this group of Celtic players will immortalise themselves as icons.

Some of course more than others. Burke, for example, hasn’t impressed for some amount of weeks. It summed up his time in Scotland that it looked like he would miss this weekend’s match too. Burke came off at half-time against Hearts carrying a knock. But, fortunately for the attacker, he looks like he’s ready to take part after joining in during first-team training today.

Fit but surely not starting

It’s a bit hard to see at first, but just have a close look, Burke is there. Towards the right of the image, you can clearly see the West Brom-owned star in between Olivier Ntcham and Odsonne Edouard. It isn’t clear whether Burke joined in with the ball work today, or how much exertion he was able to put in. But it bodes well for Saturday.

Of course, many supporters likely won’t want the winger anywhere near the team. Burke has fallen out of favour at Parkhead over the last couple of months. Some horrendous misses against St Mirren and Livingston seemed to knock the confidence he picked up in his first two months at Parkhead.

He’s only scored four goals for the club, with his last one coming three months ago. Burke did have chances to prove himself against Rangers and Hearts over the last two weeks. In both games, however, he was anonymous.

But, regardless, he’s still an option and gives us further depth for Saturday. As expected, Edouard was also snapped in the same image too. Not many will have really thought he would miss out, and it doesn’t look like he will. Any knock never felt like ruling him out.

The squad appears to be coming together nicely ahead of Saturday’s Hampden showpiece. Burke’s addition adds sheer pace and power if not much else. Neil Lennon will be happy to have him available even if he likely won’t start.
