Former Celtic star Chris Sutton isn’t a happy man after being locked out of Ibrox tonight by Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson based on ‘security concerns’.
As discussed earlier, both Sutton and Neil Lennon were due to provide analysis on the upcoming games involving Celtic and Rangers on BT Sport from an Ibrox studio.
However, they have been denied entry this afternoon, forcing the broadcaster to use different pundits from a studio in London instead.
Sutton is fuming, taking to Twitter this afternoon to say: “I’m not allowed to work on the Celtic game tonight from a studio at Ibrox along with Neil Lennon as Stewart Robertson the Rangers CEO says we are a security risk.
“Good to see Rangers ground breaking diversity and inclusion campaign ‘Everyone Anyone’ is working well.”
This is not a good look for Rangers or Scottish football. It comes across as petty and small-time.
Even if the reason of security concerns holds up, you have to consider why there are any. I doubt it’s because Sutton and Lennon would be up to no good, do you?
If Sutton isn’t happy then I doubt Lennon is either, or BT Sport for that matter. For them to find out so late seems completely unreasonable from one party in this puzzle.
Anyway, it probably saves us from a night of Neil Lennon talking about Ange Postecoglou.
Hopefully, the pundit lineup from London is entertaining and insightful for what is a huge Celtic fixture.
