Celtic poked a bit of fun at Brendan Rodgers’ changing perception amongst supporters in the club’s new Christmas advert, with a moment that has become a hit with fans online.

Celtic’s glossy Christmas effort has become something of an annual tradition.

A lot of resources are put into the promotional video that highlights official club merchandise for sale ahead of the big day of present-giving.

Notably, the squad and staff at the club always get involved, too. They take time out of their schedule to join in the fun, often sending themselves up or otherwise entertaining the Celtic support.

Celtic Christmas advert earns plaudits online

This year’s video, released on Friday, is based around the ever-popular Kyogo Furuhashi.

He finds himself a magic hat in the dressing room and proceeds to sprinkle a bit of Celtic magic around the stadium and Lennoxtown training centre.

But the moment that has made the most noise on social media comes right at the end when a Celtic shop employee takes Rodgers’ autobiography, published during his first spell as boss, out of storage and blows the dust off before returning it to shelves.

Celtic fans have been extraordinarily supportive when it comes to merchandise sales over the last few years. Underpinned by the partnership with Adidas, fans generated a record amount of merchandise revenue for the club in the year ending 30th June 2023.

The power of the support in terms of what it gives the club through purchases and ticket sales has never been greater and that should always be remembered. The football club is driven by ordinary fans even if it’s the board making the big decisions.

Celtic’s Christmas efforts this year, as always, extend beyond money-making. Celtic FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal is also underway, with the club itself making a £10,000 donation to kick things off.

You can find lots more information on those efforts, fundraising drives and schedule of events on the official Celtic website.
