Ange Postecoglou has reached hero status at Celtic over his two years at the club and has accomplished the same now at Tottenham.
Postecoglou won the Europa League after Tottenham beat Man United in a final that certainly won’t be remembered for the style of football Celtic fans enjoyed at Parkhead.
The Australian was under intense pressure heading into the final after the former Celtic boss was being branded a ‘clown’ if he failed to lift the Europa League trophy.
Well, now, the ex-Celtic manager has had the last laugh after creating history at Tottenham but that still hasn’t stopped Gareth Bale making these baffling comments about Postecoglou as the Europa League celebrations continue.

Gareth Bale says Tottenham ‘have some decisions’ to make about Celtic hero Postecoglou
Normally, any manager who wins a European trophy, their job status is guaranteed. But here, Bale believes the Tottenham board still need to make a decision on the Celtic treble-winning manager.
Bale told TNT Sports Football, “I think the chairman can decide that to be honest. There’s been so much talk on whether he goes or whether he doesn’t.
“It will be interesting to see now because to win a trophy as the first Tottenham manager to do so in a long time now.
“So I guess the board have some decisions to make. They either back him or they don’t and they have to do it soon.”
All season, pundits, ex-players and even the Spurs fans have been demanding that Postecoglou wins a trophy or he will need to leave the club.
The fact that this is still being discussed minutes after the final whistle blew in Bilbao is really quite bizarre.
Bale’s baffling comments on Celtic hero Postecoglou continue
But the strange comments didn’t stop there. Bale was then asked if he wants Postecoglou to stay at Spurs when he said the former Celtic boss needs to ‘mature’ as a manager.
Bale continued, “I like the football that he plays. Obviously he lacks a bit of a plan B, but tonight’s shown there is a plan B. There’s a different side to how he’s played.
“So I guess as a manager, if he also matures as a manager and brings that kind of defensive side to his teams, yeah, of course, he can still have great success here.”
Postecoglou has been in the managerial game for over 20 years and during that time he has won five major honours at Celtic, three at South Melbourne, three Australian U17 titles, four titles with the Australian U20s, two at Brisbane Roar, one at Yokohama F Marinos and the Asian Cup in 2015 after beating Son Heung-min’s South Korea in the final.
But yeah, he needs to mature as a manager to be a success at Spurs. Baffling.
