England legend and Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker has been hyping up the impact of former Celtic hero Odsonne Edouard this afternoon.
Edouard came off the bench for Crystal Palace at home to Spurs earlier this afternoon, making his Premier League debut. It took just seconds for him to provide a scoring impact, putting Palace 2-0 ahead with less than ten minutes remaining.
Then, in stoppage time, the Frenchman struck again after capitalising on haphazard defending in the Spurs box. The match finished 3-0, which is a huge result for the Eagles.
It’s about as impressive a debut as you get in any league and it seems he will be the talk of Match Of The Day this evening.
Lineker took to social media to say: “What an incredible start. Two goals and a winning debut. Stunning introduction. Don’t forget you can see highlights on Match Of The Day of both of Edouard’s goals for Palace.”
For some Celtic fans it won’t be nice to see Edouard immediately do well following a high-profile exit, but I don’t subscribe to that.
As I have said many times, the better Edouard does in England, the more Celtic benefit.
We want to have a reputation of being a club that others can buy prime talent from for a good fee.
More than that, I’m just a fan of Eddy and think he deserves a chance to shine in a big European league.

Clearly, his time was up in Glasgow, but I’ll be looking forward to seeing him test himself against elite defenders on a regular basis.
