Celtic are interested in MSK Zilina right-back Benson Anang, according to Sports World Ghana.
Anang is a three-capped internationalist with Ghana who came through the youth ranks with Slovakian outfit Zilina to become a first-team regular.
After starring with their B side 2019, Anang forced his way into first-team contention last term. The right-back would make 30 appearances for the club and has continued his regular senior outings into the early part of this season [Transfermarkt].
And now Sports World Ghana claim that Anang has been attracting Celtic as they look for right-back renforcements. The Hoops are reportedly set to announce the signing of another right-back, Aurelio Buta, at some stage today according to reports in Belgium [Walfoot].
Celtic are in desperate need of depth in the position. The club suffered big and unexpected losses earlier this year when Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Elhamed left the club.
Celtic can’t get by with only one right-back addition; Benson Anang link still a surprise
The fact is that Celtic can’t just get by with one more right-back signing. if were being blunt, we have to get ourselves to a situation where Anthony Ralston is nowhere near the starting XI. Should Buta arrive, another would still be a necessity.
So far, we’ve lost two right-backs and replaced neither of them. Even if a second is signed at a lower cost to play back-up, that would suit Celtic.
Where there is some surprise is the player linked. Benson Anang wouldn’t come with much experience at all. That’s perhaps to be expected at only 21 years of age. But even so, with only 31 Fortuna Liga appearances to his name, there would be a lot for him to learn at Parkhead.

Anang is also untested at both UEFA Champions League and Europa League level. His taste of Europa Conference League qualification this summer is his only European experience to date.
But he would come with plenty of potential. If Celtic are going to have a back-up at right-back, they’ll want it to be a player who can develop and make an impact in the long-term.
Anang could fit the bill in that sense. Granted, any deal still looks some way from being finalised.
