Giorgos Giakoumakis has stated that Georgios Samaras is “really happy” with Celtic’s title win and says everything he told him about Parkhead was true.
Giakoumakis secured the league championship and a route into UCL football next season and celebrated in style on trophy day with his Hoops teammates.
Samaras, of course, knows exactly what title success tastes like at Parkhead having won 4 of his own in Glasgow. The Greek forward was a cult hero at Celtic Park and continues to be a popular figure with the support.

And Giakoumakis, who states he hasn’t spoken with Samaras this week, has claimed that the former Hoops striker will be buzzing with the title win.
As quoted by the National, he said: “I haven’t spoken to Samaras this week but I know he’s really happy we won the league. He’s a Celtic fan of course.
“He told me a lot of good things about coming to Celtic and he was right. I know for sure he will be pleased for me to follow him. I love to score big goals in important games.
“I think I can score even more important ones in even bigger games next season.”
Georgios Samaras “really happy” as Celtic title win one of the most emotional yet
Samaras has never been one to come out and do a lot of media duties as a former Celtic player. You won’t find him delivering constant opinions on the manager or his team selection. He certainly doesn’t come out and lambast the club when things are going poorly either.
It’s one of the things which has helped keep him such a popular figure at the club. He left a legacy at Celtic between 2008 and 2014 and hasn’t done anything to tarnish it.
However, evidently, he’s played a role in telling Giakoumakis all about the football club. He’s done his bit in giving the player advice and helping him to adapt to what’s expected in Glasgow.

Sammy will undoubtedly be following the club from afar and, given the effect we had on him as a player, you would imagine Celtic is the first result he looks for every weekend.
It’s just a shame we haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy Samaras returning to Parkhead in a spectator’s capacity. It would be great to see him back on the pitch and getting a warm reception from the supporters.
Regardless, it’s great to hear he’s just as buzzing with the win as the rest of us. Hopefully, we see him back here one day.
