The return of Glen Driscoll to Celtic was confirmed on Monday.

The Englishman was a key part of the initial Brendan Rodgers reign between 2016 and 2019.

Driscoll was ‘Head of Performance’ at the club for the best part of three years before leaving to take on a similar role at Leicester City under Rodgers. (LinkedIn)

Driscoll, who has also held jobs at Liverpool and Chelsea in the past, was understood to have been wanted by Rodgers once he decided to return to Glasgow this summer. (Scottish Sun)

But his appointment hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by Celtic. In the club’s Rodgers announcement, they mentioned the likes of John Kennedy, Harry Kewell and Gavin Strachan, but not Driscoll.

No other outlet has confirmed that the deal was definitely happening either, until today.

The Scottish Sun have released some photos and information from Celtic’s return to training.

In the article they shared an image of Driscoll driving in to Lennoxtown, and being gifted a rose from a supporter.

From this we can clearly gather that Driscoll is back under employment at Celtic.

It is perhaps a bit of an odd way for supporters to find out about the hire. Many would have expected Celtic to release a statement, but that may still come in time.

Anyway, it’s got to be seen as a real positive to have the fitness and conditioning expert back. He has worked with Rodgers in virtually all of his previous jobs, and will be trusted implicitly.

In 2016, shortly after arriving at the club, Driscoll spoke to Celtic TV about his role.

“Within our training we’ll try to have a very specific global methodology,” he said.

“We try to get the players fit via football.”

In other news, a number of the players were also back at Lennoxtown today
